Cites & Insights 6:7, May 2006 is now available.
The 22-page issue (PDF as always, but each section is available as an HTML separate from the home page) includes:
- Perspective: Books, Blogs & Style – Comments (my own and others’) about the relationship of books and blogs (and “blooks”!).
- Following Up and Feedback
- Trends, Quick Takes & Good Stuff – Five trends, two quicker takes, and two article commentaries.
- Bibs & Blather – Tweaking the sections, C&I and YBP Academia, two resources you need to be aware of, and a tentative plan for the next four issues.
- Library Access to Scholarship – Almost half the issue, but it’s been six months…
- Perspective: You Just Can’t Comprehend – Maybe off-topic. Maybe not.
I’ll get you for this, Walt! Double curses, even! I just finished reading the new issue and added Techessence.info and OA Librarian to my bloglines. Actually, I guess it means we’re even. Sigh.
John: Yep, I’d say we’re even. Any time you have similarly worthwhile resources to suggest, I assume I’ll see them…(and I’m planning to be extremely selective about writing up resources, as such, in C&I: Not just great blogs, but blogs with something unusual to recommend them…)
The saving grace, for me at least: as the Bloglines list gets longer, the actual number of new posts to be scanned doesn’t increase all that much; I think the days of the megablogger in the library field have pretty much passed. (Not that the bloggers have gone away, but they’re not posting nearly as many items. And I’m seeing much less of the echo chamber than, say, a year ago. Geez: Here it is Monday, I actually had two spamments get past Spam Karma, and I’m in a good mood nonetheless.)
