Livermore’s Thursday market is good (and is where we get most of our fruit)…but it’s only there for five months in the late spring, summer and early fall. The Sunday market is year-round, but the one time we tried it there were only a handful of vendors.

Pleasanton’s Saturday market is good and year-round–some different vendors than Livermore, some with larger stands on Saturday, although at least one charges higher prices in Pleasanton.

Both feature two of the best either all-organic or mostly-organic (clearly labeled as which is which) farms, Swank Farms and Lone Oak, and our favorite bread bakery, Edith’s of Modesto.

Once every few weeks, however, we go back to Mountain View’s massive Sunday market, year-round–partly because of a great (and cheap) kiwi vendor who doesn’t show up locally, mostly because of a reasonably-priced fishmonger (always with fresh fish) who’s not there in Livermore or Pleasanton.
