More Kindle, newspaper columns…what’s new at PLN
What’s new at the PALINET Leadership Network (PLN)?
- Leader’s Digest August 2008 is in place–and now it’s organized by topic instead of by weekly chunks. Almost everything in the August collection also shows up elsewhere…
- There’s an open challenge for you, the members of PLN: What did your library do in the past to position yourself for today? You’ll find the challenge and one librarian’s response at Looking back–an open PLN challenge.
- You’ll find major additions to Trends to consider and Problematic and star employees.
- Jenny Levine adds a fresh new (and favorable) commentary on her own Kindle experience.
- Two brief items on negotiation have disappeared as separate articles, merged with new Leader’s Digest material to form Moving from idea to reality.
- Mobile notes includes a cluster of notes on mobile computing.
- Can you get extra mileage from commentaries on your library? Some notes on that possibility, and preliminary results from an informal survey of library newspaper columns and related blogs (or other archives), appear in the new Newspaper columns and blogs (an article likely to change in the days to come).
Later today or early tomorrow, you can expect to see a new What’s hot at PLN? More of you made more use of PLN than ever before; what articles reached the most people?
What will you do next to make PLN stronger and more useful for you and other library leaders? You could:
- Tell someone about PLN–and how easy it is to keep up with PLN by subscribing to PLN Highlights, either as a feed or as email.
- If you see something great on PLN, write about it on your blog. (Thanks, Meredith. Thanks, Taesha. Thanks, others…)
- Something you disagree with or want to add to? Use the talk page for the article (or add directly to it), or start a new topic in the forums.
- Let us know how we’re doing and what we could do better. Mail always welcome (crawford at palinet.org), and every major category (and PLN as a whole) has a Feedback page that’s there entirely for your comments.
- And, to be sure, new articles are always welcome–directly in PLN or sent to crawford at palinet.org for markup and editing.
- Or if you post something on your blog, or see something elsewhere, that you think is a natural, let me know about it.
That’s this week’s post at PLN Highlights–which will never overload you with posts or email, but will keep you informed on what’s new at the PALINET Leadership Network.
